The essays in Dans un débris de miroir include pieces on Alexandre Aspel, André du Bouchet, André Chastel, Diana Fiori, Claude Esteban, Francis Bouvet, Bachelard, Borges, Jean Wahl, the studios of Tours, Adrienne Monnier, Paul de Man, and Michel. Readers interested in the intellectual currents of twentieth-century French thought may find these meditations on friendship and artistic influence relevant to their own studies.

This volume sits within the broader tradition of the essay as a site for critical and personal reflection, a genre that has long allowed French poets to articulate their aesthetic commitments. The collection includes personal recollections and reflections on various literary and artistic figures, grounding observations in the concrete details of individual lives and specific locations such as the studios of Tours or a garden in Mantua.
