Publisher's overview:

This book is the culmination of roughly thirty years of work in creative writing workshops. It makes no claim to be exhaustive or to serve as a fixed methodology. On the contrary, if I am certain of one thing, it is that a workshop depends on the personal journey of the writer leading it—a matter of desire and instinct, of necessity much like writing itself, compelling each person to reinvent a method tied to their unique conception of the act of writing, their language, and their relationship with the world.
Writing workshops are one of the rare spaces founded on giving and sharing—acts of generosity that enrich us and momentarily rescue us from the despicable logic of the market, which is no small satisfaction. Therefore, I wished to capture here the collective dimension of workshop practice, encompassing both the facilitator and the participants, even though everyone writes for themselves in the pursuit of their own uniqueness.
I would like to thank once again all those who, by working alongside me, have allowed me to delve deeper into questions concerning writing, creation, and group facilitation, and to formulate at least provisional answers. I hope these insights will nourish other writers engaged, as I am, in this adventure—an endeavor rooted in the essential concept of popular education whose flickering flame every intellectual, in these times when barbarism resurfaces made all the more terrifying by its global scale, should take to heart to protect through the course of their days.

Writing workshops have long occupied a unique space within cultural and educational landscapes, functioning as communal environments where individuals gather to explore language and expression. As a collaborative format rooted in shared creation rather than solitary composition, the workshop brings together diverse voices under the guidance of a facilitator. Within the broader tradition of cultural mediation and popular education, such spaces encourage participants to engage with language collectively, fostering mutual enrichment away from commercial imperatives.

This volume reflects on approximately thirty years of practice within creative writing workshops, capturing the collective dimension that unites facilitators and participants alike. Readers interested in the dynamics of group facilitation and the practice of creative writing may find it relevant. The text addresses questions concerning writing, creation, and group facilitation, presenting provisional insights shaped by decades of shared literary exploration.
