The topological turn in cultural studies and the recent debate on spatiality challenge the traditional notion of space as a mere dimension of action, while often overlooking its inherent processual nature. This bilingual volume aims to develop a dynamic conception of space as a component of aesthetic theories and symbolic orders. It examines space in relation to various media and historical epochs, as well as through the lens of its processuality within the discursive order. Consequently, space is analyzed as a symbolic practice across painting and the theory of visual arts, architecture and architectural photography, literature, literary criticism, and philosophy.

The study of space has undergone a significant shift within the humanities, moving away from viewing it as a static container for human activity toward an understanding of its active role in shaping social and cultural life. This transition, often referred to as the spatial turn, emphasizes how environments are constructed through discourse and perception. This volume situates space within aesthetic theories and symbolic orders, examining it in relation to various media and historical epochs.

The contributions investigate how space functions as a symbolic practice across the theory of visual arts, painting, architecture, architectural photography, literature, literary criticism, and philosophy. The volume examines the processuality of space within the discursive order. Readers interested in the interdisciplinary analysis of spatiality and its role in symbolic systems may find this collection relevant.
